The Best Men's Orient Watches for Under...

I really had not given Orient much thought before I started the best men's watches under blog.  I thought of them as just another Japanese watch maker, and, ok, that is what they are. But they put a really nice spin on it.

Orient watches, first off, don't look Japanese to me.  That might sound wrong, but what I mean is Seiko looks like what I expect a Japanese watch to look like, and Citizen, totally looks like I expect a Japanese watch to look like.  It's not a bad thing.  Seiko is one of my favorite watchmakers out there.  Citizen, well, not so much.  Never been a huge fan for Citizen.

But Orient looks like Swiss watches to me, and, even more, they are mechanical movement specialists, they excel a mechanical watches and they even make their own mechanical movements, and have done so for a very long time.  They are much nicer than I every originally thought, and I believe them to be a great value on top of that.  They continually astonish me, the amount of watch you can get for the price of some of these watches.

The Best Men's Orient Watch for under 100 Dollars

While I stated I looked at this company for the automatic movements, I am starting the Orient list with a quartz, I know, it sounds wrong.  But you are not going to be able to find a Orient mechanical for under 100 dollars, normally, you may find one on sale.  During the holiday seasons I have seen the flight going for 100 dollars.

But either way, this watch made the 5 best men's watches for under 100 dollars list, because it has a classic look and is made by a company that has a reputation for making good watches.  The Japanese watch industry, in many ways, is better than the swiss.  I would not hesitate in buying a Orient or Seiko, Citizen.

This Orient has a 40.5mm stainless steel case with a crown at the 3 o'clock position.  The white face has thin dash marks for the hour markers, and the hour, minute and second hand are stainless steel.  The day/date window is located at the 3 o'clock position as well and the patterned, 22mm leather band has a buckle style clasp.

The Orient Capitol is a nice looking watch.  And although I am not a huge fan of quarts movements, I will never say I am against them, and this watch is well worth the 99 dollar price tag I have found it for on Amazon.  It is a very nice looking watch, with a strong vintage feel, something that falls right into some of my favorite categories.

The Orient Flight is a pilot watch if I have ever seen one before.  The tell tail triangle at the 12 o'clock marking and the minutes marked our in Arabic numerals at the 5 minute marks, are all for easy reading while occupied with operation of heavy machinery.  The 42mm stainless steel case is fairly large without being overwhelming and the white face with black numbering gives great contrast for the wearer to easily determine the time.

It has a crown and a date window at the 3 o'clock position and the brown leather band is 22mm wide with a buckle style clasp.

The automatic movement is made in house, and is an Orient 48743 Automatic, it has a 40 hour power reserve and runs at 21,600 bph.

I love this watch for under 200 dollars.  I loved it so much it appears on my 5 best men's watches for under 200 dollars list.  I would own this one, there is no doubt in my mind.

The Orient Star line of watches is Orients top line.  They are the flagship watches for the company.  And this Classic really shines in the under 500 dollar price range.  I am partial to the Orient watches in general, but I really like the looks of this watch, particularly.

The 38.5mm Stainless steel case is very reminiscent of vintage watches, not like the modern oversized behemoths we wear now a days.  It looks like a dress watch straight out of the late sixties with the white face and polished and pointed, dash style hour markers.  It also has stainless steel, polished hour, minute and second hands, and the face include a power reserve gauge, making it easy to make sure your watch doesn't randomly go dead on you.  The date window is at the 3 o'clock position and the watch has sapphire lenses on both the front and back.  The 20mm, Leather band has a buckle clasp, which is also stainless.

The movement is a automatic, mechanical movement, with second hacking and hand winding, has 22 jewels, and runs at 21,600 bph, and a power reserve indicator.

All this makes this watch a great buy at around 320 that I have been finding it for.  Some sites even sell it for 270, so you will have to look around.  It has been sold out around the holidays.

I skipped the 1000 dollar price point because I could not find anything I liked, but I had to include the Orient Star Full Skeleton.  Mostly because I have yet to have a full skeleton on any of my lists and this is really a neat looking watch.  I love watching movements, so having this one front and center is fascinating to me.

The 40mm stainless steel case has a crown at the 3 o'clock positions.  The face is white and skeleton, with stainless steel dashes marking the hours, the black hour, minute and second hands contrast with the silver and gold movement.  And the 20mm, leather band is plush and includes a buckle style clasp.  The front and back of the watch is covered in sapphire crystal, for a true see through effect.  

The watch is extremely cool, with the mechanical movement and the small seconds dial and power reserve, there is a lot of action going in with it.  It is one of my favorite watches.  It could have almost been in the under 1000 dollar price range, just missing it, selling for around 1100 dollars.

This is a really hard price point for Victorinox.  It seems like about 50% of their watches fall in the under 500 dollar price range, but above the under 200 dollar price range.  This watch is actually on the 5 best men's watches for under 500 dollars list.

It is a great watch, in my mind.  Mechanical, Swiss, and stainless steel.  By a company that has been making swiss army knives for more than 125 years.

The watch itself has a 40mm, polished stainless steel case with a crown at the 3 o'clock position.  The black face has Arabic numerals on the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions. with the Victorinox shield at the 12 o'clock position and dashes at the remaining hour markers.  The hour and minute hands are polished stainless steel and the second hand is red.  The Leather band has a buckle clasp.  And the Alliance has a sapphire lens on both the front and the back.

The Victorinox is a very nice watch.  I see it often for around 455 dollars, and personally believe it is a very nice watch for the price.  It occasionally goes a little over 500 dollars, the price can vary wildly, so buyer beware.

If your tastes don't go the way of the G-shock, but you are in need of a watch that can take a beating, the Alpach may be what you are looking for.  This is one tough customer.  Its 44mm stainless steel PVD coated case will be scratch resistant, as well as the triple coated sapphire lens.  The crown at the 3 o'clock position is also coated in PVD, and has a guard.  The black face has easy to read numbers with Indiglo and hour, minute and second hands that contrast nicely with the black face.  The canvas band is durable and has a leather strip for extra strength and the mechanical movement is being touted is a very tough movement.

While I am not a big fan of the looks of this watch, I have to say, I would take one in a heartbeat over a G-Shock.  And even though it may not be as tough as a G-Shock, it would only have to be cloes for me to take one of these over a G-Shock.  I'm sorry to all G-Shock fans, I am not trying to hate on the watch.  It has a very good reputation and a well deserved one.

The price point for this watch is around 670 so it will cost a bit more than a G-Shock, but I do believe you will be getting a good quality watch.

The Airboss Mechanical Power Gauge is a good looking watch.  With its 42mm stainless steel case, and brown leather band with white stitching, it has a very stylish look to it.  The dial face is white and the hour markers are Arabic numerals for the most part.  The Hands are silver, with Indiglo embedded through the middle.  The power reserve gauge is at the 7 o'clock position.  The Airboss has a sapphire front lens and back lens as well.  It also has a date window located at the 3 o'clock position.

The Airboss is usually found around 1700 dollars.  It is personally more than I would pay, it is why this watch did not make it onto my 5 best men's watches under 2000 dollars.  But if you are a fan of Victorinox, or Swiss made watches, this watch may just suite you.

The Victorinox watches are very nice.  Before I started the best men's watches under, I had never even heard of Victorinox, at least not as a watchmaker.  But they have a nice looking, and quality product.  

I think almost anyone would be satisfied with a Victorinox product, and hope to own one someday myself.

The Best Men's Pocket Watches for Under...

Pocket watches are one of those lost relics, that went by the wayside with the things like the train, and the log cabin.  Things you can still find in our day, but things that produce such a feeling of age and awe, that most people can't help themselves from stopping and staring for just a moment.  It's for good reason though, the primary reason being you had to fish a pocket watch out of your pocket in order to read it.  People did not like that.  And I can appreciate that.

Relic Watches is produced by Fossil, it is an economy line for them.  It's kind of hard to find out anything about their products, but, I have to say, this pocket watch is the best of a bad lot.  Seriously, for less than 50 dollars all the pocket watches I could find are 3 dollar Chinese bulk watches that anyone can buy at sites like Aliexpress.  I'm not knocking them, I have been looking at some of the watches there, there are so many, if you just want to see if you like a pocket watch as much as you like the idea of using a pocket watch, spending 5 dollars on one might be your best choice.

But, I digress.  The Relic Silvertone pocket watch is a 47mm quartz driven, stainless steel case pocket watch with a Demi-Hunter.  The relic has a black face with white Arabic numerals, and silver hands with illumination imbued into them.  The second hand is red.  The pocket watch comes with a chain that is detachable.

Overall, for under 40 dollars, this is not a bad looking pocket watch, the Demi-hunter is a nice addition, to help protect the lens.  I have not heard a lot about Relic, but I am happy that they are owned by Fossil.

The pocket watch will not need to be wound, as it is powered by a quartz movement, and it has some water resistance. But you should not take it swimming.

Amazon sells the watch for 37.50, which seems like a very reasonable price for a entry level pocket watch.

Gotham Watch Co. is not in any way related to the old Swiss Gotham watches, not at all.  Gotham pocket watches are a lot like most new pocket watch companies, in that sell pocket watches for under 300 dollars.  They are re-branded Chinese watches. 

That is not necessarily a bad thing, Chinese movements are pretty good for the price, the biggest concern with anything from China will be the lack of quality control and product inspection.  Meaning you could get one that doesn't function quite properly, and it may be a little work to get it rectified.  And you are not going to generally be buying these as

All that being said, The Gotham watches look pretty good.  This watch, is pretty nice looking.  It has a 47mm, chrome plated brass with the crown at the 3 o'clock position, and a Demi-Hunter cover with Roman numerals marking off the hours.  The dial is white with a partial skeleton, and also marking the hours with Roman numerals.  And the hour, minute and second hands are cobalt blue.  The watch also includes a 15" chain.

The movement is a Mechanical, hand winding model with 17 Jewels.  I am unsure about the power reserve or the bph on this movement.  

Amazon sells the watch for 79.95.  I think that is pretty god for a mechanical pocket watch.  It has gotten good reviews on Amazon, and for anyone looking for a inexpensive pocket watch, may want to take a look at the Gotham watches.

I couldn't resist.  The Ingersoll Mickey watches are classic in a lot of ways, and I figure, what better place to put one, than on a pocket watch list.  This pocket watch is a tribute from the classic Ingersoll/Disney watches.  Ingersoll is not the same company it once was.  The components are not all built in-house anymore.

That being said.  It still is an iconic watch and one that should be accounted for on any best of list.  The modern version of the Mickey watch is a 50mm stainless steel pocket watch with the crown at the 12 o'clock position.  The case can be purchased with either a polished finish, or the antique finish, like the one shown in the picture.  The dial is white with the iconic picture of Mickey Mouse, his hands used as the hour and minute hands.  The watch uses Arabic numerals to identify the hours, and it has a small seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position.

The movement is a 17 jewel, mechanical, hand wound movement.  I assume this is a Chinese movement, but have no proof of where the movement comes from.

The watch sells for around 190 dollars.  And for a Mickey Mouse fan, it seems reasonable for a fully functional pocket watch with the iconic mouse on it.

We have finally stepped out of the realm of mysterious movements and  origins.  And it has come in the form of the Orient Epoch pocket watch.  A quality watch from a quality Japanese watchmaker.

The Orient Epoch has a 40mm stainless steel case with the crown at the 12 o'clock position, it has a sapphire crystal on both the front and back.  The dial face is white with Roman numerals at the hour marks in black lettering.  The hour, minute and second hands are black and the power reserve indicator located at the 9 o'clock position also has a black hand and markings.  The pocket watch also comes with a stainless steel chain.

The Orient Epoch comes with the Orient Mechanical 48C40, manual wind movement.  It has a 40 hour power reserve and runs at 21,600 bph.  The watch gives you a power reserve indicator on the face as well.

The Orient Epoch is a nice pocket watch. It is built with quality parts from a quality company.  It is listed on the Orient website for 425 dollars and I look at it as a reasonable by at that price.

Wrap up

The pocket watch market offers some pretty slim pickings.  In fact, the only watch that I would want to own on this list, personally is the Orient.  That's not to say that the other men's pocket watches on this list are not decent, they just are not for me.

At the best men's watches for under, I will try to say how I see it, and this is how I see it.  If you want a every day pocket watch, I would look at the Orient.  If you are looking for a collection piece, you're going to want to consider the Mickey watch, if you want something you use every once in a while you are going to want to go with a Gotham or a Relic.

This Bulova classic definitely has a very classic look.  The 38mm stainless steel case is on the smaller side for many modern watches, but that also lends itself to the classic look.  It has sharp and clean lines on the case with a crown at the 3 o'clock position.  The silver face is marked with the Roman numeral '12' and dash marks at the other hour markers.  The hour, minute and second hands are all silver, and the date window is located at the 6 o'clock position.  The 20mm leather band has a standard buckle style clasp.

It has a Miyota quartz movement, which is common for quartz Bulovas, due to the fact that they are owned by Citizen and, of course, Citizen also owns Miyota, and also, of course, Miyota is probably the most popular Japanese quartz movement maker.

I think this Bulova is great.  It is one of the reasons I included it in the 5 best men's watches for under 100 dollars.  I have found this watch for 90 dollars on Amazon.  You may be able to find it for a little more or a little less.  The price is great anywhere near 100 for a Bulova.

The Bulova Classic Series 96B203 is a stylish looking chronograph.  With chronograph watches being so popular, I thought it was important to show some of what Bulova has to offer in that department.  This Black and silver number offers a chronograph in a very professional package.

The 40mm stainless steel case is polished and features a black bezel, along with a crown at the 3 o'clock position and the chronograph buttons at the 2 & 4 o'clock positions.  The dial face is black with simple dashes at the hour marks, and the chronograph sub dials, which are located at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions.  The watch also has a date window located at the 4:30 positions.  The Bulova Classic has a stainless steel, 3 link band with a deployment style clasp.

The Bulova Classic is powered by a Miyota quartz movement. And should offer its owner a nice, long life.

The Bulova classic is a clean and stylish looking, casual dress watch that should draw the eye.  It is branded by a highly long lived name in Bulova and it just looks good.  This was also from my 5 best men's watches for under 200 dollars list, and, spoiler alert!  It may also appear on an chronograph list...

This Bulova Automatic is also on a list already, It made my list from yesterday, The 5 Best Men's Watches for Under 500 Dollars.  For good reason, this watch is a mechanical with a partial skeleton front face.  It is a very nice watch.

The Bulova Automatic is again, a very classic looking watch.  The 45mm stainless steel case has been rose gold plated, and the crown at the 3 o'clock position is also gold plated.  The hour, minute and second hands have been gold plated, and so have the hour markers.  The face is black with a partial skeleton face, and the brown leather band has a buckle style clasp.

The Automatic means it is a mechanical movement that will not need to be hand wound.  It will wind itself while you are wearing it.  This is one of my favorite style watches, they tend to be relatively easy to repair if something goes wrong, and you will never have to replace a batter.  Not to mention, I find the movement of the mechanical movements very cool.

I have found this watch for as low at 245 dollars on Amazon, and suspect this is a great buy for the under 500 dollar price range.

Bulova watches are classic.  They were originally an American company, and they have a long and lustrous history for this country.  They were commonly used as retirement watches for large companies, and have been in almost every home in this country in one way or another.

The 5 Best Men's Watches for Under 500 Dollars

For your average Joe, the idea of spending 500 dollars on a watch will either seem like a substantial investment, or more likely, completely out of the question.  With that in mind, I expect the list of the 5 best men's watches for under 500 dollars to be a list of watches that could easily become a family heirloom. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation.  I think all these watches should be from highly reputable watch makers, preferably have mechanical movements, and be made from high quality materials.  Either that, or such a unique piece, that I am left with no choice but to add it.  I want quality for such an investment, and expect my readers would want the same.

Victorinox is the swiss army knife company.  Maybe you knew that, because that is really what they are known for.  They have only been producing watches since 1989.  But the product they make is quality.  They manufacture their own movements.  They use a multiple crystal hardening process to make a lens surface that is extremely resistant to scratches.

The Alliance mechanical is a self winding mechanical watch.  It is a stainless construction, 40mm case and has a black face with black leather band.  The face has Arabic numerals at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions, and it includes a date window.  It also includes a see through back case, along with the Sapphire lens.

I like the Victorinox brand for a quality, reasonably priced watch.  They are an old company, even though they have not been producing watches for that entire time.  They are still a company that should stand behind their product.

In my previous Men's Best Watches Lists, I couldn't really find a Swiss made watch I felt would fit the bill, but this one definitely fits well in this under 500 dollar price range, falling in the 400 dollar range.

This Orient Explorer is a whole lot of watch.  I really am attracted to this Orient watch, the value is solid.  The watch has Dual time zones, it has a slide rule calculator on the Bezel, it has a Sapphire Crystal lens, and a power gauge.

Not to mention great looks, and a mechanical auto movement, which is made in-house.  I like the Orient brand, for the appearance, as well as the fact that they are not using pieces from other companies.  It's not something you find in many sub 500 dollar watches.  In fact, its not something you will find for watches in general, but this Explorer does it for around 485.

The face is a bit busy for me, but I think it could be something I could get used to.  Orient is quickly becoming a company I look at when looking at watches of any price.  The watches are priced well, and they are not quite as mainstream as Seiko or Citizen, in the Japanese watch market.  It gives them a uniqueness factor that you cannot get from the mainstream watch companies.

German pilot watch. That is what this is, and nothing more.  The Laco 1925 nearly the same watch the German pilots from World War II wore.  You get a simple black face, big numbers and large, easy to read arms.  It has big rivets in the bands and the sandblasted, 42mm stainless steel case has a nice finish, that is a nice break from all the polished and chromed cases we usually see.

On top of that, the watch also has a sapphire lens, and a see through back.

I love this watch.  And if you spend any time in the watch world, you will see that a lot of people love these watches, and have loved them for a very long time.

It might be my first choice in this under 500 dollar list.  I think there are a lot of nice possibilities in the German watch market, it might just be difficult to get them in the U.S sometimes.

Bulova.  What can I say, I love Bulova.  But besides that, this watch has style.  The gold plated stainless steel case looks great, the large, bold face and partial skeleton, black face with large gold hands, and brown leather band rounds this watch out quite nicely.

Bulova is a old watch name, and although they are no longer American made watches, they are still high quality, and more than any specific watch, I would almost always recommend you consider a Bulova, if you are looking for a quality mid ranged wristwatch.

At 338 dollars, this watch falls well under the 500 price limit set on this list, making it a bargain.

If you have heard the name Vostok, it is important to know that Vostok-Europe is a completely different company, that makes watches in Lithuania. But, there is a business connection.  And this particular watch actually uses a Vostok movement.  It is why I consider this a great watch.  The Vostok movements are known to be tough.  And the watches look good.  They have a very European look, and will definitely give you something unique.

The company itself is fairly new, opening its doors in 2003, but the looks and the fact that they use the Vostok movement or, in some cases Seiko movements, tells me the company is doing things right.  They are not strictly fashion watches, they are watches built for quality.

The Gaz 14-Limo is a big watch.  The case is 43mm stainless steel, with a gray metallic, 3 dimensional face.  It has a crown located at the 4 o'clock position, and an additional crown for dual time functions at the 2 o'clock position.  The watch has a sapphire lens, and a leather band.

It also has a Vostok, self winding, mechanical movement.

I see the watch on Amazon for around 360 dollars.  And it looks to me that it is a great buy at that price point.  Something I would consider a good investment, if you are looking for a Euro style watch.

Seiko is probably my favorite Japanese brand of watch out there.  It is really a close thing between Seiko and Orient.  But Seiko has such options and styles, it is really hard to over look them as a company.  Today I am going to focus completely on Seiko, and we will be doing the best men's Seiko watches under.  We will be covering a lot of price points on this one.

So lets go ahead and get right into it!

The Seiko 5 is a best buy
at 75 dollars.

This watch made it on the 5 best men's watches for under 100 dollars.  It is a serious contender in the under 100 dollar price range.  You are getting a lot of watch for under 100 dollars.

The stainless steel case is modestly sized at 37mm.  Seiko located the crown at the 4 o'clock position, to keep it from digging into your wrist.  The black face is offset with white Arabic numbers, in both hour digits and minute digits, at the 5's.  The hands are polished steel and the canvas band has a buckle style clasp.  The watch also has a day and date window at the 3 o'clock position.

They watch is powered by a Seiko 7S26A automatic movement.  The movement has 21 jewels, and runs at 21,600 bph.  It also has a 40 hour power reserve.

For under 100 dollars, I love this watch.  I don't think there are many out there that can beat it for that price.  I do not think you will have any complaints.  I have found the watch for around 75 dollars.  Some sites will sell it for a couple dollars less, some for a couple dollars more.

I love the Recraft series of watches, the retro feel they have is great.  They really hit the mark with some of the watches in this series.  This watch, in particular, reminds me of my first Seiko I ever owned.  I had gotten it for my 16th birthday and I wore it religiously for more than 15 years, before I lost it on a business trip.  It was a sad day for me, and it makes me sentimental to this watch.

Sentimentality aside, you are getting a large, 44mm stainless steel watch with a 4 link, stainless steel band, with tri-fold clasp, you get an automatic movement, which runs at 21,600 vph, and hour, minute, second, day and date functions.  The watch packs a lot of punch for under 200 dollars, and also, this one made my 5 best men's watches for under 200 dollars.

The Seiko Premier collection include some very nice watches.  In fact, this particular Premier missed making my 5 best men's watches for under 500 dollars, mostly because Seiko, as a company had already made it on two of my lists.  Otherwise, it would have been on there.

This watch has very nice, clean lines, with a 42mm stainless steel case.  It has a crown at the 3 o'clock position.  The dial has Roman numerals marking the hours, and it also has a 24 hour, sub dial located at the 10 o'clock position.  The dial face is also a partial skeleton, and the hands are blued steel.  The watch also sports a leather band, with a buckle style clasp.

The movement is a automatic 4R39, running at 21,600 vph, and with a 41 hour power reserve.  The watch also comes with a sapphire crystal, giving you a nice, scratch resistant lens.

This watch looks to be a good buy in the under 500 category, especially for all you Seiko fans out there.

The face includes the hour, minute, and second hands, along with a 24 hour dial, a day/date dial and power indicator and a moon phase,  The face itself is black with roman numerals, indicating the hour markers.

On top of that the watch also includes a sapphire lens, and a 100M water resistance, and this is all had for around 750 dollars, if you search a little.  I found it for that price on Amazon, but there may be other places.

It is a really nice watch, with lots of neat features for a really good price.  It is a watch we should all look at as a possible watch for our collection.

The Astron series brings a nice feature to watches.  They are GPS time controlled, meaning, with a single button push you can accurately change your time when you change time zones.  It is also solar powered, and when fully charged can run for 6 months.

The large stainless steel case is rose gold plated, and includes a crown at 3, and two additional buttons at the 2 and 4 o'clock positions.  The black face contrasts well with the gold hands.  Hands included are the hour, minute, and second.  You get a day dial, and a power reserve dial, along with a date window.  The Leather band includes a tri-fold clasp, and of course there is the GPS time control.

This is an awful lot of watch.  The solar power is always a nice feature.  and the rose gold case gives the watch a very high end look.  I really like this watch, and it can be had for under 2000 dollars.  In fact, I have found it for around 1850 dollars.

The Grand Seiko is a high end watch, you are getting some of Seiko's best quality product when you step up to the Grand Seiko line.  This Grand Seiko has a 39.5mm Stainless steel case with a crown located at the 3 o'clock position and a stainless steel, 3 link band with a tri-fold style clasp.  There is a sapphire lens on both the front face and the back of the watch, allowing you to see the inner workings.

The watch face is white with large stainless dash marks on the hour, with a inner 24 hour ring for the blue steel, 24 hour hand.  The watch also has a hour, minute and second hand, along with a date window.

The 9S66 movement is a automatic manual movement with hand winding capabilities, it runs at 28,800 bph and has a 72 hour power reserve.  The movement also sports 36 jewels and has an accuracy of -3/+5 seconds per day.

The watch is really nice.  I say this a lot, but this is a watch I would own.  I have found it for around 4100 dollars, specifically on Amazon, and this is a heck of a nice Seiko.

I have talked about Citizen before, in the Best Men's watches for under 100 dollars.  They are one of the big Japanese Watchmakers, with a great reputation for making quality time pieces.  The Eco-drive line are nice, they offer solar powered watches with battery reserve.  And they have a lineup that goes on for miles, you are almost certain to find a watch that fits your needs and wants.

The Eco-drive has a classic look with 41mm stainless steel case, the size is not too big.  It has a crown located at the 3 o'clock position, and a stainless steel link band with a folding style clasp.  It has a blue dial face, with polished hour minute and second hands, and even includes a sapphire crystal lens.  It also has a date window at the 3 o'clock position.

The Eco-Drive is a lot of quality watch for under $200.  Under 170 dollars, actually.  Amazon sells it for around 170 dollars, which is about the cheapest I was able to find it, but there are a lot of sites it is available on though.

I don't think you will be disappointed with a Citizen watch.  They are continuously improving their line, and have been making quality time pieces for a very long time.

I'm sure you know by now, I have a soft spot for Bulova.  I will almost always look at Bulova watches before any other brand.  And even though I don't think Bulova is the same company they used to be, I think they still release quality product.  With Citizen steering the wheel now, you can be pretty confident that any Bulova watch will be made with quality in mind.

The Classic series Chronograph here, is no different.  The 40mm stainless steel case is what I would call a modern classic watch size.  It has the crown located at the 3 o'clock position, and the chronograph buttons are located at the 2 & 4 o'clock positions.  The chronograph sub dials are located at the 3, 6 & 9 o'clock positions, and the Bulova also has a date window located at the 4:30 position.  The band is stainless steel, and has a folding style clasp.

I love the combination of black face and stainless case.  It makes for a great combination.  If you are in the market for a high quality dress watch, I don't think you could go wrong with this one.  It sells for around 190 dollars, online.  So, it falls just a bit under the 200 dollar price limit of this list.

On top of that, you also get the Seiko 7S26 automatic, 24 jewel movement with kinematic self winding.  It has a 41 hour power reserve and runs at 21,600 bph,  making the watch a piece that can be cherished for a lifetime and beyond, with a repairable movement.

At just a hair under 200 dollars, it may be stretching your budget, but it is an awful lot of watch for that price.  It would definitely be on my short list of watches for under the 200 dollar range.

Seriously, this watch could not be overlooked in this day and age.  Everything is better with Bluetooth, right?  This watch is not only a watch, but it is also and activity tracker.  It will sync to your phone.  It has a fourth hand that tracks your steps, along with a daily percentage reached,

And you get this in a package that looks nothing like a Fitbit, or smart watch, which, personally, I find to be a positive.  I don't really love the looks of a ambiguous electronic devise sitting on my wrist, But this has a classic look.

I love this watch, and I have seen it for as low as 140 dollars.

The watch has a bug, 42mm brass case with a crown at the 3 o'clock position.  It also includes a pedometer button located at the 2 o'clock position.  The case is flat black and the face is a matching flat black with gray numerals and hour markers.  It has a sub dial for blue tooth status at the 8:30 position, and a step progress sub dial at the 4:30 position.  The hour and minute hands are white, and the second hand is gray.  It has easy to change bands and a quartz movement.  It has a nice look, Similar to a chronograph.  and it offers lots of unique features.  I love this watch, and would love to add it to my personal collection.

Orient is another long lived Japanese watchmaker.  Founded, in Japan in 1950.  They have been producing time pieces ever since.  It has been a subsidiary of Seiko since 2001, and became a wholly owned subsidiary of Seiko since 2009.  Their main product is mechanical hand wind or self wound watches.  Making their own, in house movements.

The Bambino is a classic looking dress watch.  It has a 40.5mm stainless steel case with its crown located at the 3 o'clock position, and a matte finish.  The white dial face has silver hour markers and a date window at the 3 o'clock position.  The hour and minute hands are polished steel, and the brown leather band has a buckle style clasp.

The Orient 48743 automatic movement is a 21 jewel movement, which has a 41 hour power reserve, and runs at 21,600 bph.

Orient makes quality watches.  The Bambino is a fine looking watch and should be a quality purchase.  I have found the watch for as low as 118 dollars, which to me, is a great buy for a mechanical watch.  And one that has a movement in it that is the same that I have found in watches that cost twice as much.

The 5 best men's watches for under 200 dollars ended up being what I had expected.  It is a list of quality timepieces from companies that have been making watches for 100 years, and more in many cases.  I believe that most people would be fairly satisfied with any of these watches.

I personally think, that the more I see of them, I might have to purchase a Orient at some point.  I really like the value.

The Timex Weekender is a really nice little watch for the price.  I love the looks of it and the fact that I can purchase this thing for under 50 dollars, makes it a very attractive package.  It was why it made it on to the 5 best men's watches for under 50 dollars list.  It is great.

With the Weekender, you are getting a 40mm stainless steel case with a crown at the 3 o'clock position, along with a chronograph button at the 2 and 4 o'clock positions, the band is easily interchangeable, but comes with the canvas version.  The dial is black with white numbers with Indiglo night light, with a night mode. A small seconds dial and a 24 hour outer ring.  The watch also includes a date window at the 4 o'clock position.

This is a really nice watch, unfortunately, when I came back to this watch to write this post, I could not find it for under 59 dollars, so in full disclosure, it should fall under the under 100 dollar list.  I just could not bring myself to do that.  I had already put it on my best men's watches for under 50 dollars, and still think it is an amazing buy for 59 dollars.

The Waterbury Chronograph has a vintage look.  It has a 40mm stainless steel case, that has been flat black coated, with the crown located at the 3 o'clock position, along with the chronograph buttons at the 2 and 4 o'clock position.  The black face has partial Arabic numbering, the numbering is in antique white, which promotes the vintage feel.  The hands are black with the same white tips, and include the hour, minute and second hand, along with the chronograph dials, and the date window.  All the white is coated in the Indiglo.

The watch has the look of a field watch or pilot watch, even though it is a chronograph.  The chronograph sub dials are located at the 2 & 10 o'clock positions, which is a bit unique.  I like the distressed leather band and the vintage look of the watch.  I like the chronograph feature.  It looks like a really nice watch, in my mind.  It would have made my 5 best watches under 100 dollars, if I had not already put a Timex on the 50 dollar list. 

The biggest issue I find with this watch is, it seems to be hard to find.  It was on Amazon for a bit, but no longer is there.  It could possibly be back.

The Metropolitan is kinda cool.  It is a watch, of course, but it is also a Pedometer.  In today's day and age, we almost all have some sort of fitness tracker, and this allows us to have a fitness tracker built right into our watch.  It means one less thing strapped to our arm.  I like that.  

The large, 42mm brass case is coated with flat black.  There crown is located at the 3 o'clock position and there is an additional button for your pedometer at the 2 o'clock position.  The face is also flat black with hour,  minute and second hands, along with a fourth hand that tracks steps.  The face also shows bluetooth status and step progress to your goal.  There is also a silicone band with a buckle clasp to hold the watch tight to your wrist.

The Metropolitan is a interesting watch.  I have seen this watch sell for around 150 dollars.  And I believe for those of you who want a fitness tracker as well as a watch, this is a nice idea.  It looks great, and will serve you well.

It has a functional dive bezel, a black face with Indiglo and a hour, minute, and second hand, along with a date window.  The Nato canvas band is easily replaceable and has a buckle style clasp.

On top of that, you get a 200M water resistance depth,  and you get this for under 50 dollars.  Now, you will not find it everywhere for under 50, you will have to search.  I found it on Amazon, but there may be other locations you can find it.  And I believe it to be a great buy for under 50 dollars.

The canvas band has a buckle style clasp and is a quick change style, giving you the ability to change your colors as needed.

The Steelix is a very nice looking watch, if you are looking for a field watch instead of a dive style watch.  Even though it is being called a field watch though, it has a water resistance depth of 200M.  Which is pretty impressive.

Personally I like the look of this watch over the Torpedo.  But I am also not a big fan of the look that most dive watches have, and this is a nice break to me.  And for well under 100 dollars, it looks like a really good buy to me.  I have found it for around 75 dollars on Amazon.

The Logic SS 42 is self proclaimed to be the thinnest 100M dive watch out there.  I'm not sure if this is accurate, but let's say it is.  That being said, it is quite a nice looking watch you are getting for under 200 dollars.

The Logic SS 42 has a 42mm stainless steel case, with the crown in the 4 o'clock position.  The blue face is large with dashes at the hourly marks, and large, easy to read hour, minute and second hands.  There is also a date window.  The leather band has a buckle style clasp.

This watch has a casual dress feel to it, while still being a durable watch that can be wore in any situations.  I believe it to be a great buy at under 200 dollars.  In fact, in many cases I find it well under 200 dollars, and often even under 150 dollars.  Just with a little looking you should be able to find it as well.

I don't try to hide the fact that I prefer a mechanical watch over any other watch out there.  That is probably why this watch makes my best men's Momentum watches.  It has a NH35 mechanical movement.  It is an automatic with the option to hand wind and with a hacking second.

The watch itself looks like many standard dive watches.  It has a 43mm stainless steel case with a functional dive bezel, and a guarded crown at the 3 o'clock position.  The black face utilizes large dashes to mark the hours, and the Aquamatic III has Indiglo on the markers and the hands to illuminate in the dark.  The watch also has a date window that is magnified for easy viewing.

The Aquamatic is often found for around 470 dollars.  I find it a nice buy at that price.  You are getting a awful lot of watch for under 500 dollars.  A lot of watch, in a very durable package.  It is a watch I would highly recommend for an active person who wants an automatic movement watch.
